Vodafone hosted the Fiji U20 side to a morning tea today at its headquarters in Tamavua.
The side departs for Australia this Sunday to play four build up matches before making their way to New Zealand for the OFC President’s Cup that has been scheduled at the Trust Arena in Auckland from November 17-23, 2014.
Vodafone’s Chief Marketing Officer, Sanjeewa Perera says they are proud to back the historical Fiji U20 side which earlier this year won the OFC playoffs to become the first national football side to qualify for an FIFA event.

“We at Vodafone Fiji would like to take this opportunity to wish our young brigade – our own Vodafone FIJI U20 football team the very best for their build up matches in Australia and the President’s Cup in NZ.”
Fiji has been seeded in Group B alongside Amicale FC (Vanuatu) and Busaiteen (Bahrain) the only professional team in the competition.
Perera says they are positive of a good outing by the Fiji U20 side which will also feature at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in NZ.
“The Australian tour and the participation of the team in the President’s Cup in NZ will help prepare the team better. This sort of exposure at an international level will assist the team build their confidence and composure and hopefully required level of competition to perform at next year’s world cup.”
“I wish the Vodafone U20 Football team, coaches and officials the very best on their tour to Australia and NZ and we are confident and optimistic that the team will pull some surprises.”
