All set for semi-finals

1st semifinal – Saturday, May 11.

Lautoka vs Nadi

Fireworks are expected during the first semifinal of the Vodafone Fiji FACT 2019 when the two western neighbours clash at 1.30pm at Churchill Park this Saturday.

Lautoka would enter the field the favourites tag after being undefeated during the pool matches. The Kamal Swamy-coached Sugar City Boys started its campaign with a bang following a thrashing 8-2 win over Tavua in the first pool match, defeated Labasa 2-1 in the second pool match before settling for a 1-1 draw against Suva in the last pool match.

Nadi, who were on the verge of getting eliminated from tournament, got a lifeline after Ba defeated Rewa 3-1 in the deciding group B fixture on Sunday. The Jetsetters had a disappointing start to their campaign after recording a 3-0 loss to Ba in the first pool match. The Pranesh Amarsee-coached side bounced back on the second day to beat defending champions Rewa 2-1 before holding Nasinu to a 1-1 draw in the last pool match.

2nd semifinal – Saturday, May 11.

Ba vs Suva

Another cracker of a match is expected when the traditional giants Ba clash on Suva in the second semifinal of the Vodafone Fiji FACT 2019 at 3.30pm this Saturday.

The Men in Black also came through to the knockout stages being undefeated from the pool matches. Led by coach Ronil Kumar and technical advisor Shalen Lal, Ba started its campaign on a perfect note outclassing Nadi 3-0 in their opening match last Friday. However, Nasinu came from two goals down to hold Ba 2-2 in their second pool match before Ba defeated Rewa 3-1 to send the defending champions out of the tournament.

Suva also booked their semifinal spot being unbeaten from the pool matches. The Saroj Kumar-coached Capital City Boys started its campaign with a 1-1 draw against Labasa. They recorded an impressive 6-1 win over Tavua before holding hosts Lautoka to a 1-1 in their deciding pool game on Sunday. Suva’s Gagame Feni is leading the goal-scorers chart after getting five goals to his name so far in the tournament.
