$25k Boost for Primary Schools IDC

The 2017 Vodafone Fiji Primary Schools Football Championship received a timely boost of $25,000 sponsorship during the official launch at the Fiji Football Association headquarters in Suva yesterday.

While handing over the cheque, Vodafone Fiji sponsorship manager Adriu Vakarau  also made a morale-boosting announcement for all the participating teams.

“To boost the morale of our youngsters, Vodafone will be providing jerseys for all the teams partaking in the Vodafone Primary School’s Football Championship this year,” he said.

Fiji Primary Schools Football Association president Ami Chand whole-heartedly thanked Vodafone and Fiji FA for their support and assured that Fiji Primary will make the maximum use of the grant received.

“With this sponsorship, Fiji Primary will put in every effort to see that we organize the 42nd Vodafone Fiji Primary Schools IDC in a much professional manner where young and developing players will be given chance to showcase their talents in a standard pitch,” Chand said.

“And of course when the students will enter the field in their new attire, they will also give in their best.”

“We are once again including female U14 footballers and they will also be given chance to showcase their skills during the primary IDC.”

Vakarau said the true reflection of their passion and commitment for the sport can be seen in their bid to firm-up the foundation of football by supporting the grass-root level of football in the country.

“The Primary Schools Football Championship has grown in stature since its inception in 1975 with the many district schools entering the competition,” Vakarau said.

“This is the 2nd year that we have come on board as sponsors for Primary Schools Football and we are confident that through our financial boost and training we will help mold the young blood to into stars of tomorrow.”
