Tough competition expected in final round

An exciting round of matches will be played this weekend as the Vodafone Premier Leagues concludes its 2018 competition.

Fiji FA competitions manager Amitesh Pal said this would be the final week of VPL and fans could expect thrilling and exciting matches.

“Yes we are concluding the Vodafone Premier League this weekend with final round of matches,”said Pal.

“It’s going to be D-Day for some teams as we can see Lautoka needs a draw against Rewa to win the VPL title after they have booked a spot in the OFC Champions League while Ba, Labasa, Suva and Nadi have equal chances as well to finish second,”Pal said.

Pal said anything could happen in the final round as all teams would want to go for a win.

“We cannot say much as all the team will be firing to win and also looking at Tavua and Dreketi it is going to be a decider and known who will survive in the top level,”

Looking at the points table Lautoka sit on 28 points after 13 matches and will play Rewa at home on Sunday at 3pm while Ba is on 22 points after playing 12 matches and plays Dreketi this Saturday and Labasa on Sunday.

Nadi is 21 points after playing 13 matches while Suva is on fourth position with 19 points after 13 matches and Labasa is on fifth position after playing 12 matches and got 18 points.

Rewa is on sixth position with 13 points while Tavua has eight points and Dreketi has seven points.
