Southern goes down fighting

The Southern Futsal Selection side went down 2-7 against Kooline FC in the semi-finals of the Vodafone sponsored Combine Brother’s International Futsal tournament at FMF Dome in Laucala.
The Vodafone sponsored side coached by Mira Sahib drew 4-4 in the opening match against Huka FC and defeated defending champion Indo Solo 4-2 and drew 2-2 against Wantoks to qualify for the semi-final.
Sahib said his players had a good experience playing in the tournament.
“It was a good outings for some of the players as they got the real taste of futsal as many of them are new to futsal.”
‘This is part of our development program in futsal and nothing should be taken away from the boys as they played their heart out, “Mira said.
Sahib said they missed some of the top players against the team that had five Kurukuru players.
“Most of our players were released to feature for their districts in the VPL fixture so we had no choice to put in our second best team for the semi-final but I am happy with their performance and have seen the weaknesses some of the player have,”
Meanwhile the Kooline FC won the tournament in the men’s division and Suva won in the women’s division.
