More than 150 students participated in a two day Fiji Football Just Play Programme as part of 2016 National Games for Special and Unified Athletes in Suva.
The two day event saw 22 Special Schools around Fiji participating in an annual event.
Fiji Football Associations Just Play Programme Manager Lavenia Yalovi says the kids really enjoyed taking part in the football activities.
‘Our programme is perfect for Special Olympics Unified Sports in which people with and without intellectual disabilities play are able to play on the same team, “said Yalovi.
“Sport’s success is due to the fact that it can be played by boys, girls, men and women of just about any physical build and ability “said festival coordinator Mr Nischal Karan.
Football was modified using simple, intuitive rules and game duration. With the help of Just Play team the children get to understand and enjoy football during the two days competition. The football competition were played at different grades namely U14 Boys, U17 Girls & Boys, Mix Team and Open grade. More than 150 children and youths participated in football during the two days
