JK Builders Nadi Veteran’s won the 2017 RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings Fiji International Veteran Tournament at Prince Charles Park in Nadi last Sunday.
The side laced with former players the likes of Watisoni Voli,Timoci Matanitu,Josefata Malakai,Salesh Sami Bula, Mohmmed Shameem and Ashiwin Chand
They defeated Lautoka Masters 1-0 in the final.
The Lambert Sarju coached side defeated Nadro Stallions 3-0 in the semi-final while Lautoka Masters won 2-0 against Sydney Suva in the second semi-final.
Sarju said it was a good tournament for them no goals against them.
“It was a good game for us as we didn’t conceded any goals from Pool games to finals,”Sarju said.
The former Lautoka coach said they had prepared well for the tournament.
“Our mission was to win the tournament for our president Jitendra Kumar (JK) beacsue he has done a lot for us and this is the way to repay him.”
He said the players did what they were told to do on the field.
Sarju dedicated the win the president JK, families of the players, players and the fans.
Lautoka coach Drimale Nabalarua said they played well but were unfortunate.
“I think we played well but the luck was not our side.”
“Its football and one have to win and one have to loose but I salute my boys, “he said.
The former Lautoka and national rep said the tournament as such made them fit and healthy.
“The tournament just not brought back the old memories but also made us train,play and get fit,”Naibalarua said.
Sairusi Niulevu was the hero for the Nadi side when he scored the winner coming from the bench in the second half.
Nadi walked away with $4000 while Lautoka received $1000.
