Rewa football striker Gabrieli Matanisiga is aiming to score a goal against his former district Labasa in the first semi-final of the Vodafone Fiji FACT at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori this Saturday.
The Seaqaqa native who celebrated his 22nd birthday yesterday wants to give his Rewa fans something back for the best wishes on his birthday.
“I was surprised to receive so many birthday wishes from the Rewa fans and I want to give them something back and that will be a winning goal,”Matanisiga said.
The former Vodafone Fiji under 20 rep said he would do his best to score a goal and make the Rewa fans proud.
“I know my fans will expect something from me and will do my best,”Matanisiga said.
He said he knew his former teammates were aware of his strength but would not let them stop him.
“The Labasa defenders know my strength and weakness and they will try to stop me but I will do it, “Gabby said.
He said the morale in camp was high and the boys were eagerly awaiting for the match on Saturday.
Matanisiqa has scored two goal for Rewa in the pool stages.
Meanwhile a total of 36 goals were scored during the group stage of the Vodafone Fiji FACT tournament last month.
Leading the Golden Boot Award race is lanky Lautoka striker Siotama Kubu with three goals.
