Seven Fijians are part of the 2019 Oceania Football Confederation Champions League Qualifiers in Raratonga, Cook Islands this week.
There are three as players, two as coaches, two match officials.
Fiji FA Head of Media Avikash Chand who is also part of the OFC Media team in Cook Islands says it was great to see some Fijians taking part in the competition.
“I was surprised so see the team list with the names of Fijians on it, “Chand said.
The host club Tupapa Marerenga has former Lautoka resident Delaney Yogona who is their head coach while Tonga’s Lotoha’apai United is coached by former Ba resident Lui Muavesi.
Kiwi FC of Samoa has two Fijians which are Samoan based Janardhan Goswami and New Zealand based Anusheil Kumar. Goswami plays at striker’s position while Kumar is a defender.
Tupapa Marerenga has also important New Zealand based Fijian striker Fauzul Ahmed in their squad for the qualifiers.
Two Fiji FA referees Veer Singh and Ashwin Raj are also part in the referees’ panel for the competition.
The OFC Champions League Qualifiers will see the best two teams joining the other 14 Clubs in the OFC Champions League this year.
