Nasinu Football team’s left back Isikeli Ratucava has been given a big break at the early stages of his life.
Ratucava has been named in the final 20-member Vodafone National Football Men’s squad for the Tri-Nations June International friendlies in Vanuatu this week.
“I feel blessed being named in the squad for the first time and its really a pleasure and a blessing to don the national jumper,” he said.
The 20-year-old Nakobo, Cakaudrove lad was recognized by the national head coach Christophe Gamel during the national under 23 trials in April this year.
He had a dream of representing the country at the senior level, but never thought the opportunity would knock his doors so early.
“I never thought that I would come this far so early, but thanks to the Almighty for giving me this talent and the head coach for giving me the opportunity.
“I am ready to represent my beloved country.”
Ratucava, who is a Fiji National University student pursing certificate IV in Graphics Design, made his debut for the Suva side during the Vodafone Premier League match against Labasa at Subrail Park in 2016.
He also played for Rakiraki (2017) and Lami (2018).
Currently he is one of the key defender of Nasinu football team.
He always looks up to his mother and grandmother for advises in life.
“I always discuss my plans with my grandmother and my mom and I thank them for always supporting me.”
When asked for his aim in life, he said, “to fullfill what God has blessed me with and become a better player in years to come.”
