Victory marks perfect return for Ba

Ba had opted for a break from the Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna sponsored event to prepare for the OFC Champions League in which they stumbled at the semifinal stage of the competition earlier this season. #Nonetheless, the Yogendra Dutt-coached side has made their intentions known of retaining their league title. #The victory sees Ba with 13 points and on third place with matches against Labasa and Suva remaining before the conclusion of the first round. #Last Sunday marked a return for Ba side on their favourite hunting ground as they faced up against Nadi – a side inspired after a 1-0 victory over Lautoka recently. #Vodafone Fiji Under-20 goalie Misiwani Narube on Saturday night helped the national side book a ticket to the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand and on Sunday was between the sticks for his Ba side which missed the services of their number one goalie Epeli Codro who had to miss a league match due to suspension. #Nadi was eager to upset the hosts at home but a 42nd minute goal by Avinesh Waran Suwamy hindered their campaign heading into the break. #The message at half time did not seem to do any good as Ba added two more goals for a comfortable victory in the end. Jone Vesikula scored on the 50th minute and Maciu Dunadamu came off the bench to put the final nail in the coffin on the 69th minute. #Dutt says they could have scored more goals. #“We are quite happy with the performance although we could have scored more goals,” he said. #Nadi coach Kamal Swamy says the loss was an acceptable result. #“I’m disappointed as the boys were not attending training. Few players had double yellow cards and we gave rest to some of the players,” Swamy told SUNSPORTS. #The Ba side will look to further extend their lead as they travel to Subrail Park and face Labasa this Saturday 1pm. #Ba : 1.
