Brazil tour will cost over $30K

The tour is part of Fiji’s buildup to the Olympic Games in Rio.
Fiji Football Association vice president and national team director, Tarunesh Reddy said the expenses were high but it would be a good learning experience for the boys.
“It is a rough figure of about $300,000 and plus for the team going to the Olympic Games in Brazil. The fare alone is very high.
“The team will be staying there for about 10 days and there are other costs also associated with it. The other expenses include transportation cost, accommodation and meals,” Reddy explained.
In January, the Fiji U23 team returned from a Spain tour which costed the parent body about $400,000.
Reddy said they were doing their best to prepare the best team for the Olympics.
“The Spain tour itself costed about $400,000 because we stayed there for three weeks. The travelling cost is hard,” he added.
“Vodafone is sponsoring the national team and they have their input in it. However, the bulk of the expenses has to come from Fiji FA.”
Reddy said Brazil was the best place to learn different style of football.
“Brazil will be playing their South American style of football with possession based which we would like to talk about. The kind of competition doesn’t matter because any team we play would be a very good side.
“Football is religion in Brazil. You can be rest assured whatever team we play will be very good sides. It is also about individual flair which we have with our teams. It would be a great opportunity if it happens.”
The team will depart for Brazil on April 25.
