The Cup, made of 18 carat (75 per cent) gold which weighs five kilogramme, was accorded a traditional welcoming reception at Nadi International Airport.#The President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, received the World Cup on behalf of the country from the FIFA and Coca-Cola executives. The tour has been made possible through the support of Coca-Cola.#He said the event marks a significance milestone for Fiji Football.#“Indeed a great honour and a moving experience for me and on behalf of the people of Fiji to welcome the FIFA World Cup to our shores for the first time,” Ratu Epeli said.#“Fiji has been given the unique opportunity to host it for the next three days before it continues its journey to 87 other countries.”#The President said just by having the trophy should inspire all the football players and fans to achieve better results.#“This will help our quest to improve the quality of our football and to make it more competitive and more entertaining and of course to improve our world ranking.”#Former France national rep and FIFA ambassador Christian Kerembeu (was part of the 1998 France side which won the FIFA World Cup.
