SENIOR DIVISION READY FOR IDC BATTLE

86th FMF Inter-District Championship 2026

The Senior Division will add another exciting chapter to the 86th FMF Inter-District Championship, with eight districts carrying the pride and hopes of their respective communities into the tournament.

Lami FC, Northland Tailevu FC, Bua FC and Dreketi FC have been drawn in Group A, while Rakiraki FC, Savusavu FC, Nadogo FC and Taveuni FC will battle in Group B.

The Senior Division has always been an important part of the IDC. While much of the attention surrounds the Super Premier teams, the competition provides senior districts with their own national stage to showcase players, represent their communities and compete for one of Fiji football’s recognised tournament honours.

This year’s field brings together teams from different parts of the country, including four sides from the Northern Division.

Bua FC and Dreketi FC will carry Northern hopes in Group A. Both districts know the demands of tournament football and will be looking to make their presence felt against Lami and North Tailevu.

Lami FC will bring the challenge from the Southern Division. The side has continued to develop its football programme and will see the IDC as another opportunity to test itself against some of the leading teams at Senior Division level.

Northland Tailevu FC completes Group A and will carry the pride of its football community into a pool where every match will be important.

Group B has a strong Northern flavour.

Savusavu FC, Nadogo FC and Taveuni FC will be joined by Rakiraki FC, creating another interesting battle for places in the knockout stage.

Savusavu has a proud football following and will be eager to make another impression on the national tournament stage, while Nadogo and Taveuni will have similar ambitions as they represent their respective communities.

Rakiraki will carry the hopes of the Western Division and will face the challenge of three Northern opponents in its battle for qualification.

For many of the players involved, the IDC represents more than simply another football competition. It is an opportunity to wear their district colours on one of Fiji football’s biggest stages and showcase the talent that exists outside the country’s top divisions.

Senior football also continues to play an important role in strengthening the game throughout Fiji. These districts provide opportunities for local players and help keep organised competitive football alive in communities across Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

Tournament football, however, can be unpredictable.

With a place in the knockout stage at stake, one goal, one save or one moment of brilliance can change the direction of a team’s campaign.

That competitive spirit has always been part of the IDC.

When the eight Senior Division teams take the field at the 86th FMF IDC, they will carry different colours and represent different communities, but they will share one ambition — to finish the tournament as the 2026 Senior Division champion.
