Nadi extends lead

The former Nadroga striker scored his third league goal this season with a low shot from the edge of the box five minutes from time after Nadroga defender Luke Rawadamu clumsily gave the ball away.#The Jetsetter’s played the entire second half with 10 men after Ilmotama Jese was sent off for a high tackle on Nadroga’s Krishneel Dutt. #Nadroga team director Nico Matawavu says they were happy with the results.#“We are happy with the results because we could see progress in every game even though we lost.“We also realize some areas we need to work on especially with our finishing and that is how we couldn’t score.#“But they were able to hold Nadi for 75 minutes and Nadi is a good team so we lost to a better team.#“We have to adjust in the areas we need to work on and things we can take forward to Suva in our next game.”#Nadi Coach Kamal Swamy praised the Nadroga team for giving them a tough game.#“I think in this wet condition, Nadroga played very well, but we knew we could score so we looked for flanked balls and I think we played well from the flanks.#“When the ball is not coming, the boys always get frustrated and maybe that was the reason we got the cards. Jese should have not done that foul.#“We will be working on our mid field play so that we can match Ba in our next game.”#The win provisionally lifted Nadi into first place on 16 points, with Nadroga in sixth on 4 points.#Nadi return home for a deserved break.
