Pacific Games campaign Starts

Head coach Juan Carlos Buzzetti along with his assistant Imdad Ali conducted the week-long camp that concluded on Saturday. #Buzzetti says players went through various sessions aimed at developing a strong squad for the Pacific Games which will be held in Papua New Guinea next year. #“The 21 players that were in camp last week worked really hard and without any doubt pleased the team management,” Buzzetti said. #“The sessions covered different aspects of the game, attacking, defending, transitions, build up, counter attack, individual duties and team duties, drills, meetings and FASANOC Anti-Doping, HIV and other topics workshop that was conducted by FASANOC Officials from Suva.” #Buzzetti says the next camp that will include overseas based players is being planned for February. #“The next camp is scheduled for the end of February with a possible trip overseas in the beginning of March (to be confirmed) that will include also overseas based players and some other new players. This camp was conducted without any problems and the standard of the players improved a lot, the confidence with the ball and decision making was #great and provided us the coaches with the opportunity to monitor and discuss each individual performance,” he said. #The Fiji Senior head coach was disappointed to see eight players opting out of the first camp. #“Only 8 players from the original selected list failed to attend the camp which was disappointing for us as this was the last opportunity for this year to gather and plan ahead,” he said.#Fiji senior men’s side last won gold during the 2003 Pacific Games.
