Ba win Women’s IDC

Ba beat defending champion Labasa 2-1 in the final to be crowned the new champions. Labasa had scooped the title in 2012, 2013 and had set their sights on a third straight crown. #Maria Lewavuni handed Ba an early lead but Labasa equalised towards half time through Selai Naito. Both sides tried hard in the second half but it was Rao who scored the winning goal to hand Ba the Women’s IDC title. #Earlier in the semifinal Ba edged Lautoka 1-0 and Labasa thrashed Nadi 5-0. #Ba team manager Dale Ting said they had set their sights on IDC crown. #“We trained two sessions a day and the girls had scarified a lot of their time,” she told Sunsports. #Fiji FA Women’s football director Susan Wise said the IDC had set high standards. #“This year’s event was a very competitive one and we could see that teams had come prepared. This is what is needed if women’s football is to progress and I would like to thank the participating teams as well as congratulate Ba,” Wise said. #Ba walked away with $2000 prize money while runner up Labasa received $1000. The two losing semifinalists were handed $200 each. #Earlier this season Ba won the Rooster Women’s League and now the IDC crown is sure to shine in their trophy cabinet. # Fiji FA MEDIA #
