Vodafone Fiji 5-0 Tonga

The Carlos Buzzetti side took the early lead in the game after Malakai Tiwa found the net in the 7th minute of the first half after a powerful strike from inside the box.
Mark Uhatahi captained Tongan side fought back strongly after finding a gap in the Fijian defense but good goal keeping by Vereti Dickson denied the visitors from scoring.
Alvin Singh got second for the home side in the 16th minute after a powerful header while captain Osea Vakatalesau getting his first goal taking the game to the breather with scores 3-0.
The Visitors came out a better team in the second half but strong defense lead by Alvin Singh denied them from scoring.
Malakai Tiwa got his second goal in the 55th minute while Napolioni Qasevakatini extended the lead in the 85th minute from a spot kick.
The Vodafone National football coach Carlos Buzzetti said the boys played really well in the first international friendly.
“It was first game and it was good and the boys played as how we want and we are satisfied with the job done as we played first time in the three years”, said Buzzetti
Tongan coach Timote Moleni said they had the young side and they played really well against the Fijians.
“The boys played good game if I compare to the Fijian team as they are on the high level”, said Moleni.
“We learnt somethings from the Fijians team especially playing highballs and the defense which Fiji played brilliantly”, he said
Moleni said we are happy about the overall performance of the boys on how they played with the Fiji team.
The Vodafone Fiji National football team will play American Samoa in their second International friendly at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Thursday 27th at 7pm.
