Fiji U20 1 Western Sydney Wanderers 1

The Wanderers outfit was dominated by their youth reps along with few senior reps. The clash was played at Blacktown international Olympic Park, Rooty Hill.
After a goal less spell Antonio Tuivuna handed Fiji the lead in the second half. Wanderers equalised later in the half which remained the final score of the game.
Coach Ravinesh Kumar says the opening match was a good hit out for his young squad and was pleased with the outcome.
“This was a good outing for the boys and as I mentioned earlier that any competition will be positive for our FIFA World Cup campaign,” Kumar said.
“The results at this stage do not matter but the overall performance did and I think in this game the players put in a good effort which we plan to build on from. The boys were eager to take the field and took a positive approach.”
The Fiji side faces New South Wales Academy side this Friday in their second match.
“We have two days to regroup before we play our second game of the tour and I’m sure we will deliver another good performance. We will be rotating the squad so that all players get ample game time. Our road to the World Cup is a long one and any game time for our players will always be valuable” Kumar said.
“Overall things are looking positive and we are hopeful of a successful tour of Australia before we depart to NZ for the OFC President’s Cup.”
