Message from Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel

The 2014 Vodafone Fiji FACT marks yet another milestone for Fiji Football Association as the event for the next two weekends will be played at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

The Fiji FACT (Fiji FA Cup Tournament) since its inception in 1991 has been a vital sporting event for both the country and Fiji Football Association. It is one of the eagerly awaited events amongst our local football fans being the first National Football Tournament of the year.

Vodafone has been a generous and enduring sponsor.

The consortium sponsorship by Vodafone and CJ Patel Group of $5million is a wonderful support towards football and I would like to thank them.

Vodafone has been a household name when it has come to Fiji FACT and we hope that our sponsors will be able to gain maximum mileage from this event.

As the Fiji FA President and on behalf of the Fiji FA family I would like to whole heartedly thank Vodafone for their assistance. Fiji FA cannot survive on its own, we require assistance from corporate organisations to organise a major tournament of this nature.

Vodafone has come on board to lend a helping hand and it no doubt goes on to show that they are keen about the development of football in Fiji. Their support will go a long way in helping football reach greater heights.

As you may all know that our U-20 side created history after becoming the first national side to qualify for a FIFA World Cup event. With Vodafone and CJ Patel backing Fiji FA I guess more great things are yet to come.

This achievement will no doubt change the fate of football in this country and the Vodafone Fiji FACT provides a bench mark for players who will be part of the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup Fiji squad.

My best wishes goes to the players, coaches, team management. At the same time I would like to urge the players to practice Fiji FA and FIFA initiative of “Fair Play” and “No to Racism”.
This is an opportunity for young and upcoming players to showcase their talents on the grandest stage. For the football fans, lets join hands and support this event to give it the success it deserves its development programmes and credit to its officials.

May God Bless You All
