Sweet Revenge for Labasa

Ba had beaten Labasa by a similar margin during the group stage and Labasa was quick to return the favour as three second half goals by Christopher Wasasala 68’, Ashnil Raju 90’ and Joseph Mishra 90+2’ was enough for the Babasiga Lions to seal their fate.
Ba lost to overall champions Nadi 2-0 in the first semifinal and Labasa 2-1 to Suva. The losing sides played for the third-fourth place playoffs.
Bal Sanju Reddy, the Labasa coach applauded his side for the positive finish.
“We ended the tournament on a high note and for that I would like to thank all the players for their commitment and their families for their support,” Reddy told SunSports.
“Special mention to Varun Anand who has been working tirelessly behind the scenes and is the man responsible for making so much happen for us.”
After a goal less half, Labasa came out strong in the second half as Ba had no answer to the onslaught.
For Reddy the Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League is the focus now.
“With the FACT over, we’ll need to go home and take some rest before we resume training and start looking at the National league games,” he said.
Labasa is currently fourth on the overall league standings after four wins and three losses. The Babasiga Lions are expected to be in action next weekend.
