Khan announces national futsal squad

“We have named the fourteen players from our sixteen- member squad but we will keep the other two as our non-travelling reserve,” he said.
Khan expects best from his players in the Trans Pacific Futsal Cup in New Zealand.
Khan said they did face some dilemma in the last minute when goalkeeper Shamal Kumar was not granted leave from his work.
“We don’t have a natural goalkeeper but former Suva midfielder MaciuTuilau will be the goalie for the team during the tour.”
Khan said utility Tuilau along with Dhanji player Suraj Chand would be the goalkeepers.
“Maciu and Suraj have shown some very good qualities for the goalkeeper’s position. However, we still lack a natural goalkeeper which is an issue at the moment.
“I will keep my options open for the selection and if any player fails to impress on the tour he will not be considered for the future.”
The players are inexperienced when it comes to international matches except for veteran Mira Sahib.
“They need to focus on the task. Playing in front of the big crowd and such atmosphere would be a big task for them but they need to keep their exposure.
“They need to feel the goose bumps when the national anthem is played. They do not need to be scared in such environment.”
The team departs on Sunday.
