Players impress coach

Lal said a three-day camp was conducted last Friday and finished on Sunday.
“Nineteen players from our Center of Excellence from Ba, Lautoka, Nadi, Tavua, Rakiraki, and Nadroga were selected for the trials,”Lal said.
Lal said coached mentoring program was also done during the camp where by coaches from all Fiji FA Development Center and Center of Excellence participated.
“We had four youth coaches who were involved with the Under 16 team who all contributed towards the training, Lal said.
Lal said the Ba Center of Excellence coach Timoci Seru, Lautoka Center of Excellence coach Sunil Krishna, and Ba coach Sunil Kumar were involved in the camp.
“We have two objectives for this camp which is a short term goal which is the Ultimate Sports which will be played next month and our long term goal is the selection of national Under 17 team for the 2017 OFC Play Offs.
Lal said the players were taken through various sessions which included includes formation and structure.
“The technical abilities of the players were also challenged from the sessions conducted,” said Lal.
Lal said the players were really impressive during the camp which gave the coaches an easy task to build the combination and structure.
“Our next camp will be held on Saturday 21st November at FFA academy Ba.”
Meanwhile, a West under 14 camp was also conducted during the weekend at the Fiji Football Academy in Ba.
Fiji West coach Rohitesh Chand said the three day camp was very successful in which the budding stars showed lots of commitment and enthusiasm.
“We were proud to have experience coaches like National U16 coach Shalen Lal and national under 14 coach Shalen Lal joining and guiding us during the sessions.
“Also the development center coaches Radhe Krishna, Dhiren Kumar, Timoci Seru, Sunil Naidu and Sunil Kumar were involved in preparing the team,” Chand said.
Chand said the establishment of development centers by the Fiji Football Association has motivated these young kids lot and their performance is really amazing.
“I think Fiji Football is heading towards the right direction now as they have started preparing their national teams years ahead.
Chand said all 24 players were selected from the Fiji FA development centers around the western division.
“I urge parents to send their kids to the Fiji FA development centers and make them mentally and physically fit.
Chand said the West U14 team will participate in the Ultimate Sports next month.
