The Vodafone Fiji Under16 Girls’ team has been drawn in tough pool for the upcoming OFC under 16 Girls Championship in Apia, Samoa.
The Marika Rodu coached side will face Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands, American Samoa and Solomon Islands in Group B while New Zealand leads Group A with Samoa, Tonga, Tahiti, New Caledonia and Vanuatu.
Rodu said they have known their fate now as whom they would play and lift their preparation.
“The pool looks tough but we know every team will come prepared and we will do the same.”
He said they would take each game at a time and the threat would be Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.
Rodu said he was happy with the girls as they were gelling well in the training.
‘I am happy with my players as they are fast learners and mainly they are passionate about football.”
Meanwhile Fiji will start it campaign against American Samoa on August 4 at JS Blatter Sports Complex 5pm. Their second match will be against Cook Islands on August 11 and 2 days later face Solomon Islands.
Their last pool match will be against Papua New Guinea. The OFC under 16 Girls Championship will be played from 4-25 August at JS Blatter Sports Complex in APIA, SAMOA.
