Two Winners Crowned At Inaugural Meet

South Taveuni Development Center under 12 team and Holy Cross under 14 side were crowned the winners of the first ever Fiji Football Association Development Center competition at Holy Cross School Grounds in Taveuni last Saturday.

Fiji FA development officer north Iosefo Vosoboto, said four schools participated at the one day competition in the Garden Island.

“The four schools were Niusawa Methodist Primary School,Taveuni Central Primary School,Taveuni South Primary School and Holy Cross Primary School,”Vosoboto said.

The former Ba and national goalkeeper said football was dying in Taveuni as more children concentrated on rugby, netball and athletics.

“The development center competition had generated more interest in kids to play football,” he said.

Vosoboto said this was seen during the competition as parents, teachers and people from around the area flocked into Holy Cross ground to witness and support their the kids who participated in the competition.

“We were in the garden island for a week to train the kids for the competition and there have been lots of positive feedback from the people of Taveuni,”Vosoboto said.

Vosoboto thanked the participating schools, parents, teachers and all those who assisted in making the competition a success.
