As the countdown begins for the 2026 BiC Fiji FACT, excitement is already building ahead of the official pool draws scheduled for Saturday, May 31, with Fiji football’s first major tournament of the season set to kick off on June 19 at Subrail Park in Labasa.
Among the teams preparing for the national showdown, Nadroga’s journey into this year’s competition has emerged as one of resilience, belief, and strong leadership under President Praveen “Pannu” Padiyachi.
Just weeks ago, the Stallions were sitting in ninth place on the Extra Premier League standings and were in danger of missing out on qualification altogether. With pressure mounting and critics questioning the team’s ability to compete, Nadroga faced a must-win situation against Suva FC.
That moment became the turning point of their season.
Nadroga produced a crucial victory over Suva FC to climb into eighth place and officially secure qualification for the 2026 BiC Fiji FACT, completing a dramatic late surge that reignited belief throughout the province.
For Padiyachi, affectionately known across Fiji football as “Pannu,” qualification meant far more than simply reaching the tournament. It represented the reward for staying committed to a vision centered around youth development, patience, and local pride.
“Giving every local talent a chance is our main motive this season,” said Padiyachi.
Throughout the campaign, the Nadroga president continued backing his youthful homegrown squad despite difficult results and outside criticism. Rather than relying heavily on outside signings, Padiyachi placed his faith in local players developed within the province — a philosophy that has gradually restored identity and pride within Nadroga football.
That belief was rewarded when the young Stallions delivered under pressure and earned their place among Fiji’s top eight districts heading to Labasa.
This year’s BiC Fiji FACT will also mark a special milestone for Padiyachi personally, as it will be his first Fiji FACT tournament as president of the Nadroga Football Association. Guiding the team into one of Fiji’s biggest football competitions after such a difficult campaign has already made his first season in charge a memorable one for the province.
Padiyachi also acknowledged the support of sponsors MMM Brothers and Coastal Rental Cars, whose backing has helped the team continue its preparations and development throughout the season.
Nadroga also carries proud Fiji FACT history into this year’s competition. The province lifted the title in 1993 after defeating Tavua 2–0 in Nadi before winning again in 2001 with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Labasa on home soil.
The BiC Fiji FACT roll of honour reflects the rich history of Fiji football, with districts such as Ba, Labasa, Lautoka, Nadi, Rewa, Suva, and Navua all enjoying memorable championship moments over the decades.
But for many football fans this season, Nadroga’s story is not only about past success — it is about determination, recovery, and belief when qualification seemed out of reach.
As Subrail Park prepares to host thousands of passionate supporters from around the country, “Pannu” Padiyachi and his young Nadroga side arrive carrying momentum, belief, and the hopes of a province proud to see its team back on one of Fiji football’s biggest stages once again.
