Champion 4R Electrical Club In A Tough Pool

The 2016 Vodafone National Club Championship defending champions 4R Electrical Club has been drawn in a tough pool with Suva’s Civic and Nadroga’s Kulukulu.

In Pool B, Bureta has been grouped with Greenstar and Nailaga while Agriculture Football leads pool C with Lokia and Press Football club.

Pool D, sees a western battle between Nadi’s Gandhi and Blues Football clubs grouped together with Lautoka’s FC United.

The official pool draw was done by Vodafone Fiji’s Sponsorship Manager Adriu Vakarau on Tuesday at Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa.

Vakarau said Vodafone Fiji was proud to be partnering with Fiji Football Association to support the development of Football in the country.

“Through our sponsorship, we strengthen our bond with the sport, “he said.

“The true reflection of our passion and commitment for the sport can be seen in our bid to firm-up the foundation of football by support to the grass root level of Football in the country. We are proud to be the name behind our football teams in supporting them to achieve victory.”

He said this was the first time that we had come on board as sponsors for The National Club Championship competition.

“This is a great platform for deciding on a National Club Champion among the giant clubs in Fiji and we are confident that through our financial boost, we can take the Championship to greater heights.”

“The National Club Championship has grown in stature since its inception in 1986 with the many clubs entering the competition. This year we will witness 12 team’s battle it out for the title in Ba this weekend.

He acknowledge the efforts of Fiji Football Association for their part in organizing the 2016 Vodafone National Club Championship and welcome all the club teams partaking in this year’s competition.

Fiji FA competition manager Amitesh Pal says the top team in each pool will qualify for the semi-finals.

“All together we will have 12 matches in group stages and 6 matches will be played this Saturday and 6 matches will be played on Sunday followed by finals and semi-finals on Monday.”

Meanwhile, $4,500 is up for grab for the winner while the runner-up takes $2,500.
