Round 1 of Senior League 2016 Comes to An End

Fiji Football Association Competitions Manager Amitesh Pal said the competition in the Senior Division in the South was competitive as witnessed through their performance.
“All teams prepared well and the style of football played has improved a lot,” Pal said.
‘There was a lot of interest shown by Senior Division as they are vying for the direct promotion this year, “Pal said.
Lami currently leads the points table with a better goal advantage.
He believes this weekend’s match will be as exciting as Lami match. Nasinu,Navua and Tailevu Naitasiri are all sitting on five points.
“All these four teams are undefeated in the competition and this week will be the decider for which team to lead the points in the first round.
Northland Tailevu is the only team which has played it’s all four matches in the first round and is yet to register a win.
The Competitions Manager said the second round of matches will start after a week’s break.
“The team finishing with the most points after completing two rounds of competition will be declared the winner and will play a playoff match (home and away) with the winner of the Western Zone (Viti Levu) to be the Viti Levu Zone Winner.
“The winner of the Viti Levu Zone will then further play a home and away basis playoff match with the winner of the Vanua Levu Zone for Vodafone Senior League 2016 championship and for a place in the Premier Division competition from next season.
Pal said the winner in the Southern Zone will receive $750 while the runner- up receives $250.
