This announcement was made as the Veterans tournament got underway at Prince Charles Park in Nadi earlier on Thursday evening. #The veteran’s tournament is jointly organised by Fiji FA and New Zealand Fiji FA INC. #Mohammed Yusuf who is also the Fiji FA liaison officer in NZ elaborated further. #“All funds collected from this tournament will not go to Fiji FA but to a fund which will be used to assist the children of the former Fiji internationals. We will be assisting in mostly getting the basic needs of the children,” Yusuf said. #More details on the fund will be released soon. #12 teams are part of the tournament this year with three teams from New Zealand and one from United States of America. #Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel says the veteran’s tournament which has become an annual event continues to grow. #“This indeed is a very special event for Fiji FA. The former reps have entertained the fans for a number of years and it is only fitting to hold a veterans tournament which gives an opportunity to these players to celebrate their achievements and as well the young generation to see who this prominent figures were,” Patel said. #The winner of the 2014 RC Manubhai/Apco Coatings Fiji International Veterans tournament gets $4000 while runner up $2000.
