Rakiraki tops Western Zone/ Lucky Escape for Rewa

Janola Rakiraki topped the Western playoffs when they edged a gutsy Weet-Bix Vatukoula outfit 3-2 at the Fiji Sports Council ground.
Anand and Janardhan Goundar gave the home side a 2-0 advantage just before the break. Benedito Lotana pulled one for Vatukoula just two minutes in the new half but their comeback faced a major blow when Asaeli Combuta scored Rakiraki’s third to further extend his side’s lead.
Wainikasio Domuni got Vatukoula’s second goal four minutes from full time but Rakiraki held on for a victory.
Eveready Vinz Workz Tailevu Naitasiri ended their Southern zone campaign on a high note with an 8-1 victory over Skippy Levuka.
The first leg of the Viti Levu playoffs is expected to be played this Sunday at the Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Meanwhile in another Southern Premier Division match played today Nivea Nasinu thumped Angel Lami 3-1 at Bidesi Park.

Lucky Escape for Rewa
Luck was on the side of Eveready Airpro Rewa as an own goal by Royal Tea Shop N Save Nadi gifted them a 1-0 victory on Sunday at Prince Charles Park during the Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix National Football League.
Both sides entered the match in a bid to better their position on the national football league standings. Rewa missing key players Simione Tamanisau and Lorima Dau were out for nothing less than a positive result following the heavy defeat to Weet-Bix Shop N Save Lautoka last weekend.
Locked 0-0 at the break, it was Nadi’s William Valentine who let an own goal on the 79th minute which in the end gave Rewa three points.
In other league matches played this weekend Angel Tavua upset Skippy Southern Forest Navua 1-0. Lone match played on Friday night at Lawaqa Park saw Sunquick Sigatoka Motor Spares Nadroga edge Skippy Western Under-23, 2-1.
