2010 Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix National Football League
In the National League matter, the board has decided that we will have to work through Nigerian association and FIFA. In matter of principal we had to write to the National association concerned first, so Fiji FA has written to Nigeria football association, the secretary or person who is suppose to sign the International Transfer Certificate (ITC), he has not replied yet but the manager who is responsible for arranging the ITC has written and confirmed to us that Nigeria football did not agree to the ITC.
So we do not know the whether the signature by the secretary is forgery or not. If the signature is forgery then it follows of course that the ITC will be invalid. But it is a matter of importance and rather then the board making a decision as such, we will be involving Nigeria football and FIFA.
If we do not get a reply by this Friday from Nigeria Football then we are certainly going to write to FIFA
Women’s Football
As far as women’s football is concerned, people are saying about the standard. Let me assure everyone that we have got an overseas visitor who has given a statement to me; he was very impressed with the standard of women’s football in Fiji.
Agreed some teams we have asked them to participate, new players came in fine they are still learning but as a whole the standard was very good and the sponsor was very happy and has agreed that he wants to continue with the sponsorship.
English Football Association (FA)
(English FA Cadet referees course at Dr. Sahu Khan National Football Academy in Ba)
Two officials from the English FA have been very pleased with our academy. I attended the opening and they were very happy to be here, the interest and selection of young people to participate in this referees course has made them very happy.
I went to the opening and officially launched the course. I think the participants have a lot to learn from this course and we are very grateful to FA for giving this assistance. These two gentlemen, FA is paying all their expenses for this course and all Fiji FA is doing is looking after their accommodation and travelling cost here in Fiji.
Hekari United
(2010 FIFA Club World Cup)
Irrespective of what people say about the standard of Football in Fiji, the standard of football is going up. Can you imagine six of my Fijian players are going to play in the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup and does that now show the value and how much they are required by other associations? When our boys get an opening they show their standard and here I’m proud to see that six of my Fijian players are playing in the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup. Everyone should be proud.
