Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants 2013
The stage is set for the remainder of the 2013 Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament which resumes this Friday at Govind Park in Ba. On this note I would like to thank the football fans in Vanua Levu for making the first two rounds of the Inkk Mobile BOG a successful one at Subrail Park in Labasa. The gate takings over the two days were not as expected and we are currently in the process of verifying the details.
The INKK BOG tournament is not over yet as a lot of team are still in contention of qualifying for the semifinals. I would like to thank the players and team officials for the wonderful display of football last weekend and I hope they will raise the bar this weekend.
We will also welcome the premier division and girls Under 16 sides at the BOG in Ba. These two divisions are part of the Fiji FA development programme and we hope that the fans will support our move. A big thanks to sponsors Inkk Mobile as only they have made this possible.
Fiji FA will show full respect to late Tui Ba Ratu Sairusi Nagagavoka during the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants. Nagagavoka, who will be laid to rest today, was a great football supporter for the national and the Ba side.We will observe a minute of silence in respect for the Tui Ba.
Board Meeting
The Fiji FA board of control met last Friday night in Labasa and this will now follow up with the council meeting which will be held this Saturday at the National Football Academy in Ba.
*The National league board chairman Sheik Ibrahim and secretary Amitesh Pal were complimented for their hard work. The Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Football League completed on time and administration work was excellent. On top of that the whole season went on without a protest.
*A Just Play programme manager is expected to be appointed soon. Just Play programme is vital as far as our development programme is concerned and we have to make all efforts to continue from where the programme has been left off.
*National Coaching director Juan Carlos Buzzetti has presented his plan as far as the 2015 Under 20 World Cup qualifiers are concerned. With New Zealand not participating in the playoffs we stand a good chance of qualifying for our first FIFA World Cup and we need to utilise the time we have on our hands.
*There have been talks for the National side to play international friendly matches in New Zealand and in Indonesia. The national team management is dealing with the matter to finalise the matches.
Secondary Schools IDC
The annual Tuckers Ice Cream sponsored Fiji Secondary schools Inter District Championship will be held this week at Subrail Park in Labasa. Fiji FA fully supports secondary schools football and we are always looking for ways to assist.
Secondary schools football has set vital platform from which many of our current football stars have emerged and gone on to be successful players. A good example is wonder boy Roy Krishna. For football to progress in the country secondary schools football is a must.
