Women’s League continues

At the Pacific Theological College grounds in Suva the Southern competition will commence. Navua which edged Rewa 2-1 last Saturday takes on Nasinu this round. Suva on the other hand battles Rewa who are out to go one better following two consecutive losses in a row.
Looking at the Western zone scheduled to be held at the Dr. M.S Sahu Khan National Football Academy ground in Ba, unbeaten Lautoka women’s side meets Tavua, Nadroga battles Nadi and in the last match of the afternoon Rakiraki takes on Ba.
Meanwhile team officials need to get serious as this is a very crucial year for the National Women’s side which participates in the 2011 Pacific Games in Noumea, New Caledonia.
This was the call from Fiji Football Association technical director Saiyad Ali following few rounds of the 2011 Zonal Women’s National Football League.
“Few concerns have been raised with me in regards to the women’s zonal league. On many occasion I have been informed with issues such as few teams not turning up, players taking the field and the common problem being few teams arriving late.
“Fiji FA is well aware that the women’s league started a few weeks back and it seems teams and officials are still settling in. I would just like to urge the officials to step up and assist us. This is a very crucial year as the national women’s side heads to the Pacific Games and our aim is to win gold.
“If we set a good platform right here in our domestic competition then that will help the national side in their campaign to bring back glory to the country,” Ali said.
The Fiji FA technical director says Fiji FA is doing everything possible to see women’s football prosper.
“For the zonal women’s league as approved by the board of control that Fiji FA will be providing free transport, referees and on top of that arranging a venue. Fiji FA President Dr. Muhammed Shams-UD-Dean Sahu Khan is very supportive and I urge all the officials to work together towards one common goal,” Ali said.
