Fiji FA establishes pathways for youngsters

Two Development Centres were opened in the Northern Division.
Fiji FA vice-presidents North Edwin Chand opened the Batnikama Development Centre at Batnikama Primary School in Labasa while Girja Prasad did the honours of opening the Centre of Excellence at Seaqaqa Central College.
Fiji FA technical director(acting) Ravinesh Kumar said so far they have established 10 Development Centres around the country and five Centres of Excellence.
“The development centres are to develop players from primary schools before they are moved to the Centre of Excellence for further development.
“This is part of Fiji Football’s initiative to develop players and 30 players will be drafted in the centres and once they are fully-developed they will then be transferred to the Centre of Excellence.
Chand said it’s a great opportunity for the children in the North and they should make use of it.
“I think the opening of these development centers will boost the morale of young buddies and I urge parents to take the opportunity and send their children and make use of Fiji Football’s development programme.”
Chand said youngsters would benefit more since the centre would have quality coaches and quality football equipments.
“Youngsters will learn the basics of football and will turn out to be very good football players like our very own Roy Krishna.”
The Centre of Excellence at the Seaqaqa Central College will be training Under-16 and U18 players of Seaqaqa, Tabia and Dreketi.
Sanjesh Lal has been appointed as the coach with his co-coaches Shalvin Chand and Navneel Sharma.
“There are lots of young and skilful players in Seaqaqa who need to be nurtured and exposed,” Lal said.
“We are thankful to Fiji Football in looking at our district and establishing the centre.”
Prasad while opening the centre in Seaqaqa urged the residence to make use of it.
“Football is getting professional and we at Fiji Football are looking at developing our players which will take them forward.
“I urge you all to make use of this opportunity and join the centre and who knows one of you from Seaqaqa might make your name in the world.”
Fiji Football has established development centers in Ba. Nasinu, Suva, Nawai in Nadi, Labasa, Savusavu, Nadroga, Tavua and Navua
The eleventh centre will be opened this week in Rakiraki.
