Nadroga mainted their good form from the 2011 Vodafone Fiji FACT to pick a vital victory as they try to avoid the relegation zone.
Vinit Singh a former national Under-20 squad member found the back of the net in the second half. Suva on the other hand had a lot possession and dominated general play but failed in the scoring department during the Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix National Football League clash played at the TFL National Stadium.
Nadroga skipper Levi Tawake said the win was a bonus for his troops who had put in a lot of effort.
“I would like to thank the boys for the performance. Gurjit Singh coached us during the Fiji FACT and taught us few tips which we used against Suva today. Overall we are pleased with the victory over Suva.”
Suva coach Khan said his focus was now on their next match.
“After the match, core of the players told me that this is the best way they have played in this season. We had the possession, our general play was good. The boys maintained possession there were more than six to seven passes in our attacks. I did not have much time to work with the team this week but did some theory work.
“Fitness is a major concern which we need to work on before our next game,” Khan said.
Elsewhere Ba failed to further extend their lead in the League as they were held 1-1 by a determined Skipper Tuna Southern Forest Navua side.
Kiniviliame Naika gave the homeside the lead just inside the first twenty minutes. Joseph Mishra equalised just eight minutes later.
Ba tried hard in the second half but could not beat the Navua defence which seemed to have regrouped from the match against the Southern Skippy U23.
