Ba takes over from Puma Central City Hardware Labasa which was not in action this round. The Men in Black are now with 30 points having played 12 matches while Labasa is close with 28 and a extra game on hand.
Against the Western U23, two quick goals from Isimeli Naresia and Petero Dauniseka gave Ba a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.
The Western U23 seemed to shut out a Ba onslaught in the second spell but seven minutes from full time Marika Madigi added the home sides third.
Ba faced a major blow as their specialist mid fielder Roneel Kumar was sent off into added time. This could a major setback as Ba will be in action this Sunday against Skipper Tuna Southern Forest Navua.
On the other hand Emmanuel Manu, the Western U23 coach says they turned out to be their own worst enemies.
“We had 17 attempts at goals but we were not able to find the target,” he said.
“Overall the boys played well but at times they failed to follow instructions. Ba had seven corners; they scored two goals as our players started ball watching.
“We also need to work on some indiscipline as few players are turning up late when the training sessions are called. This are some of the things we will need to work on before our next game,” Manu said.
