Greetings to all
Board Meeting
The Fiji Football Association board of control will meet this Sunday as we finalise the do’s and task for the first half of the 2012 season. A lot has to be discussed and I’m sure all the members will forward positive ideas, means to help take Fiji FA forward. This is a very hectic season with a lot of international commitments at hand and we must plan well ahead.
Another important issue which will be discussed at the board meeting will be the protest filed by Tailevu Naitasiri against Nadroga. As I stated in my last post that after studying the case I felt that the case needs to be reheard again. Fiji FA will announce the outcome shortly as the 2012 Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League season will be starting soon.
FIFA/OFC meeting
Bob Kumar the Fiji FA chief executive officer along with myself are in Auckland, New Zealand this week to attend a FIFA/Oceania Football Confederation meeting. The weeklong workshop will help us plan for our new season and what will be required of Fiji FA.
OneWorld Flight Centre Fiji FA Awards
The annual Fiji FA awards night is back and it is shaping up to be a grand event. On this note I would like to thank OneWorld Flight Centre who has joined hands with Fiji FA in recognising the contribution of the hardworking officials and players in the 2011 season.
The awards for the 2010 season were not held last year. Fiji FA had failed to secure a sponsor in time for the event. This year the new board of control aimed to bring back the prestigious event and this was made possible through the support of OneWorld Flight Centre.
Extra Ordinary Congress
An extra ordinary Fiji Football Association congress will be held at 10 am on 26th February 2012 at Fiji FA headquarters in Suva. The congress will be to regularize the 12 team motion for 2013; appointment of 3rd trustee; adoption of revised Fiji FA Statute.
Olympics
The national Under -23 playoffs are our main concern at the moment. I have had a discussion with the National Team director Tarunesh Reddy. Everyone is focused and the players will be coming into camp later this week and prepare for the final phase of training before the squad is finalised. A place at the 2012 Olympic games are at stake and we will try our best to earn that spot.
