Fiji loses second friendly to Vanuatu

Coach Frank Farina made some changes from the first match in which the side held Vanuatu to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
Fiji would have taken an early lead when in the seventh minute a rebound shot by Iosefo Verevou was tapped by Vanautu goalkeeper.
The host was awarded a penalty in the 23rd minute after Vanuatu striker Brian Kaltak was fouled in the box.
Kaltak scored from penalty spot taking the Mois Poida -coach side to a 1 nil lead.
The Fijians tried their best to look for the equaliser but failed in the 44th minute when midfielder Bong Kalo gave a through pass to Nicholos who neatly sent the ball past goalkeeper Ben Aminio.
Both teams went to breather with the host leading 2-0.
Krishna pulled one back for the Fijians straight after the restart and was denied twice by the wood-work later in the second half.
Farina sent in fresh players to keep the pressure on Vanuatu’s defence but solid play and good understanding among the defenders saw the hosts walking away with the win.
Fiji’s starting team: Benaminio Mateinaqara, Alvin Singh, Samuela Kautoga, Avinesh Swamy, Laisenia Raura, Jale Dreloa, Ilisoni Logaivou, Iosefo Verevou, Abbu Zahid, Zibraaz Sahib, Roy Krishna (C).
