Labasa, Ba tagged Group B favourites

After successive wins in the round one matches last weekend, Ba and Labasa played to a 1-all draw in a nail-biting clash which was tagged as the feature match of the day.
The Men in Black struck first with Laisenia Raura’s perfect header following Avinesh Waran Swamy’s lobbing cross into the box sending the home fans into frenzy with something to cheer for.
However, it did not last for long as sensational striker Ravinesh Karan Singh equalised for the Babasiga Lions as both teams rested with a goal each at half time.
Different tactics, strategies, substitutions and all other possible ways were tried in the second half, but the teams failed to find the net in the second half resulting in a 1-all at full time.
The Ramesh Sharma-coached Nadroga, after going down to Ba 2-0 in the first round, bounced back to hold the BOG champions Rewa 1-1 in an evenly matched encounter this afternoon.
National under-20 rep Setareki Hughes scored first for the Delta Tigers before former Lautoka rep Leisari Qalica equalised for the Stallions a minute before the full time.
Labasa leads group B with 4 points with a plus three goal difference edging out Ba on second place who also has four points in bag with a plus two goal difference. A draw would be enough for both teams to book a place each in the semi-final.
Nadroga and Rewa share a point each and both need a minimum of three clear goals in its final group match tomorrow to qualify for the knockout stages.
Labasa meets Nadroga at 3.30pm tomorrow while hosts Ba battles Rewa in the final group match at 7.30pm.
