The 2020 Vodafone Premier League has been concluded successfully says Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf.
“Despite the postponements due to the pandemic everything went well and I must thank the Government of Fiji and Ministry of Health for allowing the sports to happen,” said Yusuf.
“I would like to thank all the participating teams for their effort in making this year’s VPL an exciting and successful one,”
Yusuf despite all odds all the teams came out prepared in the competition.
“I must say this year’s VPL matches were very exciting as we came to know the winner for the first time on the final whistle,”
“Suva and Rewa were fighting for the title and it went till the final whistle when the Capital City side were declared the champion after a draw with Nadi and I congratulate them for been the champions,”
Yusuf said last year we had two western team on top but it changed to two southern teams.
“Ba won the league title last year while Lautoka finished second but this year Suva is on top and Rewa is on second spot with same points but difference in goal, “said Yusuf
“We could see how competitive the competition was last year with Suva finishing third and Rewa escaped the relegation on goal difference with Tavua,”
“Even Navua came out firing in the last two rounds and sent Nasinu packing to senior division,”
“As we wrap up the 2020 VPL season I must acknowledge the support of our sponsors and district sponsors, players, officials and fans their support this year and hope it continues next year in making the VPL more bigger and better,”
