Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf says, the 2019 INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants Tournament was a major success.
He said despite facing some challenges this year the tournament was success.
‘We faced some difficulties due to adverse weather which was beyond our control and forced the tournament to be delayed for three weeks but overall it is all about football,”
“We had to shift the last group stages with semi-finals and final to Lautoka which may I have disappointed the southern fans but hope they have understood the situation and those who bought the tickets got the refunds, “said Yusuf
“I think the standard was good as players came in fully prepared to play in the tournament.”
‘We witnessed some classic goals in the tournament and on the semi-final day eight goals were scored which showed the team worked hard on their finishing,”
“I would like to congratulate Labasa for winning the BOG title after 22 years and Lautoka for their gallant performance, “Yusuf said,
“Nothing to be taken away from Nasinu as they have proved they are real Giant Killers after making it to the semi-finals and giving a good fight with Labasa but unfortunately they went down 3-0 in extra-time. Hats off to young Nasinu side as well.”
Yusuf also thanked the participating teams for giving their best during the tournament but unfortunately in the end there is always one winner.
“I thank each and every one for making this tournament a success, “said Yusuf.
