Youth coaching course concluded

The Oceania Football Confederation/ Fiji Football Association Youth Football Coaching Certificate Course was concluded last weekend in Suva.

The three-day course was conducted by the Fiji FA Instructor and coach educator Yogendra Dutt with 22 participants.

The candidates were from the Southern Division with majority being the coaches of the Secondary Schools’ and youth teams.

“The aim of this course was to assist participants (coaches, teachers, parents or volunteers) to improve their knowledge and competency in relation to Youth Football,” Dutt said.

“The candidates comprised of a mixture of new and experience coaches who are currently involved with the Secondary Schools’ youth teams.

“There were three females on the course as well. These women are involved with the girls youth teams in their districts and are also players.”

Dutt said by the end of the course, the participants had a clear understanding of the new OFC Coaching Convention and pathway.

“The process was very clear for all to enjoy education, training and learning. The participants also commended that they learnt new ways for improvement which has further enhanced their coaching level.

“This course has made a huge impact on the participants and gave them room for improvement.

One of the participant Rodrick Singh who is coaching the Rewa U19 team said the course had further enhanced his skills in coaching.

“I have been player and been guiding the Rewa youth with assistance from head coach Marika Rodu but now I have learn a lot and for sure will implement what I learnt to my boys.”

“It was a great learning experience for all of us and this will really help us in the development of youths in our respective districts, “said Singh
