Youth coaching course a success

The Fiji Football Association conducted its first coaching course last weekend since the resumption of football in the country last month.

The three days of MA Youth Coaching Certificate course was held from Friday to Sunday last week.

This was conducted by Fiji FA’s Head of Coach Education, Yogendra Dutt.

“It was a wonderful experience from these enthusiastic participants from Lautoka,” Dutt said.

“They learnt about the coaching of youths in Lautoka so now they will go back to their environment, to their youth teams, and they will start working within their teams.”

He said the most important part for these coaches is to go back to their teams and execute the learnings from this course.

“The most important part is whatever has been shared or learnt during this course, now the big challenge for these coaches is to go back and execute whatever has been learned so that this helps in improving youth footballers in Lautoka.

“We will ask them to go and work out with the youths first where we will go to observe them and see whether they are applying the principles learned from this course or not.

“The next pathway for them would be the senior level coaching certificate.”

Dutt said more coaching courses are lined up for other districts.

“Next up is the grassroots coaching course in Tavua followed by senior coaching course in Rakiraki and other courses are lined up for other divisions as well.”
