Youngster shows class

SEVENTEEN –YEAR OLD Mohammed Ishrat was the youngest player showing his skills and drills during the Vodafone Futsal Inter District Championship 2019 at FMF Gymnasium in Suva last weekend.

The Dreketi futsal rep caught the eyes of many fans with his gutsy performance during the championship.

Despite finishing last in the championship, the Dreketi futsal side was praised by many fans with their tremendous performance in the three day tournament with all unknown players.

Ishrat, who is a year 13 student at Seaqaqa Central College said they came here as underdogs and had learnt a lot.

“This is the first time we qualified for the IDC and we have experienced a lot. For the first time I have played in front of so many fans which is something very different from the matches back at home, “said Ishrat,

“We have been training on the grass field and playing in indoor turf was something very challenging for us but it was a great experience.”

Ishrat said it was great opportunity to play against some of the big district players.

“Rubbing my shoulders with some of the best players in the country was a great experience as well and also I have learnt a lot from them,” he said.

He added that he has a dream to don the national jumper.

“My dream is to represent my country in the futsal code and I thank everyone for cheering me and supporting our team during the tournament.

“I thanked my God and my parents for always supporting me in my football career,” said Ishrat.

Ishart concluded that they were taking a lot of experience and exposure from the tournament and would come out more prepared in the next tournament.
