The Vodafone National football team is currently into camp at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba since Monday, August 24.
This week-long camp, which is part of the preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, sees a number of young players being given a big break from the national head coach Flemming Serritslev.
The side includes two 17-year-old Isikeli Junior Sevanaia (Ba) and Thomas Dunn (Navua), two 18-year-old Mitieli Naiviro (Ba) and Inoke Turagalailai (Rewa) with two 20-year-old Muni Shivam Naidu (Lautoka) and Simione Nabenu (Suva).
Serritslev praised the district coaches for having the courage in using the young players at the premier level which allowed him to identify such talents for the national team.
He aims to see the young ones among the experienced national team players.
These senior reps include captain Roy Krishna, Akuila Mateisuva, Beniamino Mateinaqara, Abbu Zahid and Kavaia Rawaqa to name a few.
“I am happy that the coaches here have the courage to use the young players in the district teams.
“We have some young players in the team and it’s not because they are present national team players but we want to see them among the experienced national team players how they are doing.
“If they are good enough then they are also old enough,” he mentioned.
