The 2020 Vodafone Women’s Inter District Championship will be staged at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said unfortunately the tournament was postponed due to adverse weather condition during the 2020 Courts IDC.
“Initially we wanted to host the tournament together with the men’s competition during the Courts IDC but the Bidesi and Buckhurst Park Grounds became unplayable condition due to heavy downpour which forced us to postponed the tournament,”
“Now we have set the dates and which will be from Wednesday October 28 to Monday November 2.”
Yusuf said the eight team had more time to prepare for the tournament.
“We can expect thrilling encounters as the team had more time work in their fitness level and plan their game as they know who they will meet in their pools.”
Ba is being drawn in a pool of death with last year’s runner-up Labasa, Nadi, and southern champion Tailevu Naitasiri in Pool B.
Hosts, Suva leads Pool A with Rewa, Nadroga, and Nasinu.
Yusuf said the Association was keen on ensuring they created competition both for men and women at all levels.
“Fiji is currently ranked 65th in the world this is attributed to our continuous drive to ensure our girls play competitive football in all age group level,” Yusuf said.
“In terms of local competition, Fiji FA is doing more for the women’s competition than the boys and has a lot of natural talent and they can be future leaders if we look after them well, through their welfare and education.”
The winner of the 2020 Vodafone women’s IDC will win $4000 while the runner-up pockets $1500.
