Women’s IDC a success, says Wise

Fiji Football Association women vice president Susan Wise hailed the recent Vodafone Women’s Inter-District Championship (IDC) a success.

The two-week championship ended with a sparkling grand final between Labasa and Ba at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Sunday with the Ladies in Black lifting the silverware.

Wise said the competition level in the women’s competition is growing and it was evident in the IDC.

“We had a successful tournament,” she said.

“The competition level in the women’s football has also become stiff and we witnessed it in the final when Ba was leading by two goals and Labasa fought back.

“I would like to congratulate Ba for winning the title and also commend the Labasa girls for giving a tough challenge.”

She said, for women’s football, the focus would now shift to the Vodafone Women’s Senior League in the domestic competition while the Fiji U16 girls’ team continues its preparation for the upcoming Oceania playoffs.
