Women in football

A week long Women’s in sports workshop management in sporting organization course was held last week at Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa.

Oceania Sports Education Program (OCEP) master educator Lemeki Savou said it was a sports administration course where they targeted women in football.

“This five-day course was for the executives who are running the district associations in football, “said Savou.

He said the course was to equip the participants with the knowledge in understanding the structure of sports in the Pacific.

“They get into know how to govern their club and district and also to do their strategic planning and also how they can market their product,”

“They were also taught how to establish relationship with other key stakeholders who can assist them in developing the sport around the country, “said Savou

Savou said this was a program funded by FASANOC through women in sports commission.

“All our participants are women that are part of football districts and also Fiji FA Just Play staff,”

“A total of seventeen participants took part in which 15 were women and three were male, “said Savou.

“They were trained in Sports Structure, Effective meetings, marketing and Public Relations, Financial Management for Clubs/Federations, Facility and Events Management, Clubs/Federation Governance and Planning for Development [Strategic Planning]”
