West derby tonight

The Vodafone Premier League 2020 will see Lautoka battle neighbours Ba at Churchill Park tonight.

After a comfortable win for the Men in Black, coach Ronil Kumar anticipates a tough challenge when they take on Blues in front of their home fans.

“Lautoka is no doubt a great team and they will surely come up firing in front of their home fans.

“Nothing to be taken away from my boys as we will also be giving our best to grab maximum points from the match,” Kumar said.

Kumar was happy with the performance of the youth players who got a break in the premier division last Saturday.

He said he worked on a few areas which they lacked against Navua.

“We had a good game last Saturday as we fielded few youth players who got exposed to the Premier division for the first time.

“We identified some areas we lacked against Navua and worked on in the last two training sessions.”

Lautoka Football Association president Shalendra Prasad said despite few setbacks as far as the transfers of a few players were concerned, they had been working hard to field a formidable squad against Ba.

“The feedback of the players were tremendous, they were so happy to be back into football,” Prasad said.

“We ask the fans to come in numbers, support your own team as we are trying to build a team from now after a lapse of four months.

“We would like to see that whoever comes to watch the game, please follow the Covid-19 rules laid by the Ministry of Health and the Government of Fiji and Fiji Football. We will respect and abide by the laws and we will ask fans to follows the procedures.”

The match kicks off at 6.00pm.

Meanwhile the full round of Vodafone Premier League will be played this weekend in which on Saturday at 2pm Labasa will host Nadi at Subrail Park in Labasa while Ba will challenge Nasinu at 3pm at Fiji FA Academy Ground in Ba.

On Sunday arch rivals Rewa and Suva will battle at ANZ Stadium at 3pm while at the same time Navua will host Lautoka at Uprising Sports Facility in Pacific Harbour.
