For the first time in Vodafone Women’s IDC former women’s footballers took the field in challenge for the Veteran’s trophy at the ANZ Stadium in Suva last Monday.
The clash between Westerns Ferns and Southern Roses was the curtain raiser match for the finals.
Both teams were locked 1-1 at fulltime but the Western Ferns claimed the title beating Southern Roses 3-2 in penalty kicks.
Fiji Football Association women’s vice president Susan Wise said it was good see the former players taking the field.
“We want to make this challenge annually so the women can train and keep themselves fit and healthy,” said Wise.
“It was fun and everybody enjoyed the match at the stadium.
